South Carolina-based grower participates in Wreaths Across Americas’ Honor Fleet

WP Rawl, a leafy greens grower, honored fallen Veterans this holiday season by participating in Wreaths Across Americas’ Honor Fleet.

Each year, National Wreaths Across America Day takes place in over 1,400 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad continuing the tradition by participating in annual wreath-laying ceremonies. During the ceremonies, volunteers lay wreaths on the graves of fallen veterans.

For the third holiday season, along with hundreds of other volunteer trucking companies, WP Rawl traveled the nation’s highways carrying thousands of wreaths to their final destination of Beaufort National Cemetery in their home state of South Carolina. With a beautifully wrapped 53-foot reefer trailer, the company made the journey to Columbia Falls, Maine to pick up their dedicated load of wreaths. The wrapped reefer trailer displays an image of a national cemetery, WP Rawl logo and Wreaths Across America messaging to show the company’s support for the cause and spread awareness for the organization along the journey.

Darren Gambill, the driver of the WP Rawl truck is a Veteran himself. Gambill served in the U.S. Army.

“It was very nice to see the turnout this past weekend at the National Cemetery in Beaufort. It was packed. I enjoyed seeing everyone pitching in and helping out,” said Gambill. “The playing of the bag pipes was very moving. It was great to be able to experience this for the first time.”

WP Rawl said it has supported the Wreaths Across America organization throughout the years by donating its services along with sponsoring wreaths to be laid on the fallen veterans’ graves at the local Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, S.C.

“Many of our Rawl family members and family of employees are veterans or families of veterans. We are proud to have veteran employees like Darren in our organization,” said Ashley Rawl, vice president of sales, marketing and product development. “Participating in Wreaths Across America is a great way to show our gratitude to veterans like Darren as well as honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.”
