The producer and exporter Riofresh Tunisie recently introduced two new products: the purple artichoke and the eggplant. Both are produced in the Tunis region and are already exported to the Gulf Arab States and to Italy. “We are currently searching for other European clients, like Germany, Sweden and France,” announced Fatma Zramdini, CEO of the company.
A Tunisian product
The artichoke is a typical product of the Tunisian terroir. According to the website of the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture and Resources, the cultivation of the artichoke goes back to the 3rd century at least. Its cultivation ranks sixth in Tunisia. The season of production spreads from early October to the end of May.
Another flagship product for Riofresh are the round and elongated geothermal tomatoes, commercialized in France and Russia.
