China: Temperature fall causes drop in apple production

Cold weather and snow have affected all parts of the country. Apples in some areas have been hit by natural disasters such as cold currents, frosts and hail, resulting in a reduction in production. The snowfall in the Shandong Peninsula has caused the market situation in Shaanxi and Shanxi to be bleak.

Recently, snow fell in Yantai and Weihai on the Shandong Peninsula, and road traffic was slightly affected, but the impact on loading and unloading was relatively limited. The overall transaction activity in Shaanxi and Shanxi has not been significantly improved by the imminent arrival of Christmas and New Year. The sales are still relatively slow, and the market in the Yuncheng production area is almost at a standstill.

The reaction of some domestic fruit wholesale markets to the uncertain situation with apples has been to either withdraw produce or wait it out. The volume of apples shipped out of the inventory is obviously not as good as before. Of course, the most important thing is the fall in prices.
