Henk van der Meij:

"Mango market enters interesting end of year rally"

"The mango market has always been volatile and once again this year there is a very different situation from previous years," says Henk van der Meij of Hars&Hagebauer. "The volumes of Brazilian mangoes are decreasing strongly and Peru can't pick it up due to late harvests and strikes. All in all we are entering an interesting end of year rally!"

"This is resulting in shortages on the market for the last weeks of December, although the programmes can still be supplied. But the prices have risen to a level around 6-7.50 Euro. As soon as the first volumes arrive from Peru at the start of January, those prices will decrease again, but we are expecting structurally less supply on the market this season."
