An employee of the Lianhua Supermarket in Tiazhou explained that the winter bamboo comes from production areas in Zhangzhou, Fujian. The first winter bamboo has just entered the market and the product size is relatively large. The price is around 10 yuan [1.40 USD] per 0.5 kg.
One vendor stated that "this is a great year for winter bamboo, and bamboo entered the market here earlier than last year. The price is also lower than last year's 15 yuan [2.10 USD] per 0.5 kg." The local Shen'ao bambo and Huangtu Ling bamboo all entered the market around one week ago. The retail season will last roughly until early March next year. "From experience we know that the price will become more reasonable week by week after the bamboo enters the market."
