Design of new packaging will be announced by mid-December

Hamburg importer starts pomegranate season with stronger brand presence

Don Limón is currently preparing for the upcoming season of Indian pomegranates. The Hamburg-based importer is starting the new campaign with much confidence and increased expectations. As the latest marketing measure, the company has designed special Don Limón Brand Boxes for its pomegranates.

Brand presence
The preparation for the upcoming campaign has been satisfactory so far. The last residue analysis -with satisfactory results- have already taken place and the first pomegranates will soon be harvested and exported, says the distributor. The next goal is placing the pomegranates strongly and permanently in the market and to create a sturdy brand recognition. "We've developed the so-called Don Limón brand-boxes so that for the first time we can market Indian pomegranates under our own label. However, this is still a concept; the final design will be announced on our social media by mid-December," says the marketing department.

Successive expansion
The Don Limón company has been expanding its business in India for many years: large investments, Hindi-speaking employees and long-term cooperation with local producers -those growing grapes in Maharashtra for instance- are shaping the corporate strategy. The pomegranate growing region is also mainly located in Maharashtra.  Growers from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu complement production. The main varieties in the assortment are Ganesh, Bhagwa, Ruby, Arakta and Mridula. "Overall, the total  weekly volume for the European markets is 6-8 containers, and unlike grapes, the number of producers involved is significantly lower, meaning that a total of 10-12 producers are involved in the project."
