French consumption habits change after yellow vests demos

According to a Perifem/Opinionway survey published earlier this month, 56% of French people aged 18 and over have changed their Christmas shopping habits or will do so following the activities of the “yellow vests'” movement.

As noticed during Black Friday, many of the French prefer to make purchases on the internet. 43% buy online rather than in physical stores for their Christmas shopping.

Already, about 30% of the French say they have been less present in physical shops these past days because of roadblocks. 29% say that this decline is justified by the fear of being confronted with scenes of violence.

After the events of last weekend, Emmanuelle Macron is trying to calm things down. A fourth day of massive mobilization is planned on this first Saturday of December.
