Spain: Trops receives 724,000 Euros to strengthen subtropical cultivation

The territorial delegate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Javier Salas, has delivered the European aid resolution granting 724,000 Euro from the operating fund for the year 2016 to the manager of Trops, Enrique Colilles.

This aid "will help strengthen the company after the investments made in facilities and in improvements in production and marketing through its Organization of Fruit and Vegetable Producers (OPFH)," said Salas, who explained that the OPFH "follow community directives and the idea is to strengthen the supply of these products and become more efficient in the market," he stressed.

The delegate of Agriculture said that the OPFH are a "very useful tool for producers to become stronger, allowing them to improve their infrastructures and better market their products." Trops is one of the two OPFH of the province of Malaga, along with Almendrera del Sur.

"Trops is a leader at the Andalusian level and is growing as a cooperative and as a company, making it one of the leading tropical fruit companies in Europe," said Javier Salas.

The territorial delegate of Agriculture has praised the support of the Government of Andalusia to the subtropical sector and to the agricultural and livestock sector in general, "which is one of the major engines of the province's economy, together with the tourism sector."
