The president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, inaugurated a banana packing center in Cochabamaba that is expected will help increase the production and economic income for the export of that product.
"I am impressed, I have seen the banana for export packing process, where young people, men and women work, I salute this effort that is for the benefit of their families and Bolivia," said the president.
The banana packing center, which will favor 159 producing families, is located in the municipality of Shinahota del tropico de Cochambamba.
This new facility will allow packing 2,000 nineteen-kilogram boxes of bananas every three weeks, which will help strengthen exports to Argentina, Chile, and Peru.
The facility demanded an investment of more than one million bolivianos (around 140 thousand dollars), which was made by the Indigenous Development Fund.
