Spargelhof Werner, a satisfied user of asparagus harvester AspergeSpin

This year, the German company Spargelhof Werner bought the 10,000th machine built by Engels Innovatietechniek. The proceeds from this transaction were donated to the German Fund against childhood cancer (Deutsche Kinderkrebsstiftung). The association assists children and their families by offering advice and information, but also helps in research, so that children have more options to be cured.

The German company cultivates soft fruits and asparagus, among other products, in the rural municipality of Deinste. Its objective is to produce healthy and good tasting food in perfect harmony with man and nature. In this framework, renewable energy is generated in order to protect the future of the following generations. This energy is also implemented in the cultivation of asparagus.

The 150-hectare field of white asparagus is sown with the AspergeSpin. With this efficient cultivation system, the harvest's labor costs amount to 40 cents/kilo. The low cost of labor is due to the fact that employees harvest an average of 30 kilos per hour. These low costs and the possibility to use plastic management have convinced Spargelhof Werner to harvest using only the AspergeSpin.

Engels Innovatietechniek, of the Dutch municipality of Panningen, is a company specialized in the development and production of white and green asparagus harvesting systems. The AspergeSpin has revolutionized the field of white asparagus harvesting and foil management. The system guarantees the harvest of top quality asparagus. Engels Machines systems are used all over the world. This year, the 10,000 machines milestone was reached.

During the Expo-SE, the leading fair in the field of asparagus and soft fruit in Karlsruhe, Germany, held on November 21, 2018, the official delivery of the 10,000th machine was made to Mr. Hans-Jürgen Werner. That was also the moment in which Frank Engels, director of Engels Machines and Hans-Jürgen Werner officially donated 5,000 Euro to the German Fund against childhood cancer.
