Belgium: Head lettuce price doubled, now most expensive variety

A higher supply of leeks translated into slightly decreasing prices for the consumer. Because the weather has been warmer than usual, demand was lower. The supply of carrot bunches is also up, with good prices for the time of year. Head lettuce is the most expensive type of lettuce at the moment. Despite a slightly increasing supply, prices have almost doubled. Corn salad also isn't cheap. An alternative are the multicolors and the lollos. A wide range of multicolor is sold at correct prices. Lollo rossa is slightly more expensive than the bionda, but prices are close.

The supply of open field cauliflower and broccoli is coming to an end, and prices are falling. Greenhouse production has an upward trend. The supply of chicory is up slightly. The transition from old to new harvest is in full swing and probably runs for another week. Chicory is on the menu for the holidays as usual. There is a wide range of celeriac and a healthy demand, resulting in positive prices.

Production of loose tomatoes is now falling week after week, signalling the end of traditional cultivation. Prices are therefore higher than last week. For vine tomatoes things are a little quieter, and fall production is running on schedule.
