Last week (November 19-23), the price of bananas in all producing areas of the country showed a steady growth, among which Yunnan and Guangxi producing areas were the most prominent. The prices in Guangdong were stable and the fluctuations were not large. In the first half of the period, merchants demanded a more positive performance, which drove variable price increases in Guangxi, Yunnan, Laos and other production areas. The price of top quality goods in some areas in Yunnan resumed at 4.0 yuan/kg or more, and the price of Guangxi fine bananas remained more than 5.0 yuan/kilograms.
In the second half of the year, the national banana price increase slowed down, but there is still a stable rising trend. In the past two weeks, prices in Yunnan's production area have experienced a half week decline, followed by a one-week rise. The fluctuations have become more volatile, which has caused some merchants to take a more cautious attitude.
At present, Guangxi is still one of the key production areas for domestic shipments, but the main shipping area has already shifted to Wuming. In the coming months, Yunnan, Myanmar, Laos and other production areas will gradually take over the baton of the main shipping areas. Industry insiders pointed out that there will be a small peak in the banana production in Laos in the next year.
