In the last few days, the SIFE Dal Bello company has been using the Ravenna harbour for shipping bananas from Ecuador. Then, the fruit is sent to Padova, where SIFE has a ripening plant. The transportation was made possible by the new Hapag-Lloyd feeder service which connects the Central and Southern-American West coast to the Ravenna harbour.

Alessandro Dal Bello, “This was the first time we've used the Ravenna harbour for shipping bananas. This is an excellent solution for us because it is the closest harbour to our offices – together with the Venice one. Shorter travel times equal lower costs.
SIFE Dal Bello is a long-time operator specialised in exotic fruit. He is active in the Padova market. The harbours of Trieste, Venice and Ravenna are extremely convenient for a business like SIFE. Investments in general management are crucial. The DCS Tramaco from Ravenna managed the logistics regarding the shipment from the Guayaquil harbour to Italy on behalf of the importer.

Dal Bello, “We must thank Tramaco for their incredible professionalism. Now, we have to figure out if shipping companies are interested in investing in Northern Adriatic Sea harbours. In this way, it is possible to facilitate the market exchanges between North-Eastern Italy and Europe. We deal with perishable produce and therefore we need fast travel-routes. This first test went fine. We hope that this will become a standard procedure rather than a test only.
Riccardo Martini, Tramaco, “The transit times are of 22 days from Colombia, of 24 days from Ecuador and of 30 days from Chile. This allows us offering competitive services to importers located close to the Ravenna harbour. Furthermore, we can offer daily shipments to all of Central-Northern Italy, thanks to our refrigerated warehouses”.
