China: Vegetable price remains low in early November

The Department of Commercial Affairs monitors the wholesale prices of 30 kinds of vegetables in 36 major cities throughout China. Data from last week (October 29th-November 4th) shows that the average wholesale price of vegetables decreased by 2.7% last week, and decreased by 10.1% in the last four weeks. 23 kinds of vegetables showed various degrees of price decrease in comparison with the previous week, including cauliflower, broccoli, and lettuce with respective price decreases of 14.8%, 11.1%, and 10.4%. Vegetable supply to the market is becoming less strained and the overall price is expected to continue its downward trend, although the price may slightly bounce back in some production areas that experience colder weather.
