The National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) officially launched six research and technology transfer projects in crops that have a great impact on agricultural exports, informed the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri).
The new proposals of the INIA are four research projects in mandarin, chili, and blueberry; and two technology transfer projects in avocado and passion fruit, aimed at promoting the development of knowledge on tolerance to hydric, saline, and thermal stress, combined with the behavior of new commercial varieties in central coast conditions.
According to the INIA, the results of these projects will contribute greatly to the agricultural export sector in the short and medium term, because it will allow producers to improve their exportable supply and strategies.
Experts and researchers of the INIA presented the projects in a workshop developed in the Donoso Agricultural Experimental Station, in Huaral. There, they presented the advances and stages of each project, as per the request of the private sector in the Table of Agro Exports.
The event was attended by a representative of the National Agrarian University La Molina (UNALM), the National University of Huancavelica (UNH), the Association of Exporters (ADEX), and the Association of Agricultural Producers' Associations of Peru (AGAP).
There were also representatives of the Association of Citrus Producers of Peru (Procitrus), the Association of Producers of Hass Avocado of Peru (Prohass), Fundo La Piramide, Selva Industrial, and the guilds of pepper, blueberry, and passion fruit producers, among others.
