"Price slightly decreased as a result"

China: "Supply volume of South African grapefruit larger than last year"

Turkish grapefruit is currently entering the international markets and the South African grapefruit production season is coming to an end. The export volume of South African grapefruit is therefore growing smaller. Fresh Plaza spoke to Lisa of Shanghai Nong Fu Fruit Co., Ltd. about the market conditions for grapefruit during this year's production season.

Fresh grapefruit

"The overall supply volume of South African grapefruit was larger this year than last year. We currently sell grapefruit to wholesale markets, supermarkets, and fruit juice chain stores. We do not yet sell under our own brand. Competition in the grapefruit market is currently quite fierce. The supply volume of grapefruit was relatively high late in the season, and the price consequently came down, even below the price level of last year."

Shanghai Nong Fu Fruit Co., Ltd. mainly imports various kinds of fresh fruit from the USA, Egypt, Southeast Asia, Chile, Peru, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand into China. The main product varieties are oranges, cherries, blueberries, avocados, grapes, mangosteen, and durian.
