VOEN presents rain protection system with complete drainage at the ExpoSE

''New canopy solution enables management with wide spraying machines''

Regardless of the topographical features of the situation, VOEN offers a new roof that ensures complete water drainage from an orchard. This is possible through a special water flow within VOEN films. To save time, the drainage parts are mounted by means of a zipper during the winter they are stored together with the film. The brand new and state-of-the-art canopy solution will be presented at the upcoming ExpoSE (21st & 22nd November) in Karlsruhe.

Use of broad spraying machines
For level installations, the installation of different lengths of scaffolding poles creates an artificial 'slope'. A specially developed water drain at the lowest point of the system ensures controlled constant water drainage. Once collected, the water can flow into an irrigation basin or water tank, to be reused to irrigate the crops. The possibility of having the rows of plants transversely to the canopy, enables strawberry growers -for example- to work the plants with broad spraying machines, explained a company spokesman.

VOEN offers an interesting alternative to the classic foil tunnel, especially for producers of berries and vegetables. ''In addition to drainage, the system also scores well on the aspects of high-quality insect and rain protection, permanent and automatic ventilation, and it can be installed flexibly. Furthermore, the patented film is also easy to retrofit to existing scaffolding constructions."

Durable alternative to frost protection candles
VOEN recommends that fruit producers use the canopy together with an anti-freeze solution. For this there is the so-called AntiFrost VOEN, a pellet operated frost protection furnace that combines simple handling, safe operation and efficiency. The AntiFrost VOEN is the permanent alternative to frost protection candles, since they can be  refilled quite easily, burning up to 10 hours.

Comparative calculations show that -regardless of the frost intensity- the AntiFrost VOEN ovens are the cheap alternative to frost protection candles starting from the third below-zero night. ''The AntiFrost VOEN is a cost-effective and efficient alternative to frost protection. Together with the VOEN canopy system it provides a perfect combination for a productive harvest.''

Canopies as a core competence
Since its foundation in 2002, VOEN GmbH & Co. KG has been specialising itself in canopy systems, with a worldwide patented film for stone and berry fruits, effective against heavy rain, hail and frost. In addition to this core competence, over the years a second competence sector was developed, enabling a suitable protection systems for berries and vegetable crops. Both national and international fruit farms are supplied.
