The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia has arrested three people as alleged perpetrators of repeated theft in an agricultural farm in the Lorca hamlet of Almendricos. The vehicle in which they were traveling contained 25 bags with more than one ton of mandarins, as well as agricultural tools, gloves, used shoes and headlamps.
Since mid-October, the Guardia Civil was aware of several thefts on an agricultural farm, from which an undetermined volume of mandarins had been stolen.
The Roca team, specialized in tackling theft in fields, made several appointments with the person in charge of the farm, who explained them that the thefts took place at dawn.
A week ago, the presence of a minivan with signs of being overloaded was detected, so it was intercepted while it was crossing the hamlet of Almendricos.
The car, occupied by three men, was missing the rear seats; instead, there were 25 sacks full of citrus fruits. The suspects, who are Romanian nationals and residents of Roquetas de Mar, Almeria, were arrested as alleged perpetrators of the repeated theft.
The clues obtained in the development of the investigation have made it possible to find out that they are members of a criminal group settled in the province of Almeria and specialized in the theft of citrus fruits. After the theft, they returned to their place of residence, where they allegedly sold the fruit through irregular retail channels.
