A quality product coming mainly from Italy, with imports occurring only when the Italian potatoes are lacking. This is the philosophy of the Patate Serena company, with offices in the province of Naples.
The company explained, “Patate Serena is one of Serena srls’s brands. For over 30 years, it has been marketing quality potatoes and onions. The business was founded by Pasquale Rozza and Sabatino De Sarno. Today, Patate Serena is available in most of the Italian wholesale markets, thanks to a network of authorised retailers. Potatoes and Onions are selected with extreme care. We collaborate with both local and foreign producers. Thanks to the experience gained over time, a quality product is grown throughout the year”.
The company supplies large 15 kg bags for the Horeca channel, but also smaller bags of 2,4,5 kg. The product has a yellow pulp and is sold already washed in crates, also. The washing plant is in Nola, in the province of Naples. “The supply areas are in Campania, but also in Sicily and Abruzzo. When the Italian product is lacking, we usually resort to the French market”.
This year, the potato market is quite positive, thanks to the lack of product – especially in North-Central Europe. Therefore, Italian quality productions are exploiting this situation.
