Raynbow and Bellavista: the Raytec Vision solution for potatoes and baby-leaves

Raytec Vision is a leading company in the sector of optical selections and x-ray inspections. The company has over 15 years of experience in different segments of the agri-food market, counting over 1.300 units installed all over the world. Thanks to a constant research activity, the business developed a wide selection of innovative machines in order to ensure the quality and the safety of the food. The optical selectors are used for primary resources and processed products, while the x-ray inspectors are used for packaged and non-packaged products.

The company offers solutions tailored to its clients’ needs, with whom it builds a unique and long-lasting partnership.

At the Fruit Attraction, Raytec showcased Raynbow, which is an optical-sensor scanner developed for the selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. Now, it is even more powerful thanks to the new software Unyco – especially regarding the detection of defects and contaminations in non-washed potatoes.

Marcos Pinco, sales area manager of Raytec, told to FreshPlaza, “Thanks to a double fly-vision system, Raynbow analyses 100% of the surface of each product. In this way, it ensures getting rid of colour defects and of rotten products. Also, it is possible to utilise the two waste systems that differentiate the useless defects from defects considered as second-choice products”.

At the fair, it was possible to see Bellavista, the exclusive machine designed and produced by Gemini together with Raytec Vision. Marcos stated, “It is the first harvester for baby-leaf provided with an optical selector. It is capable of removing the most dangerous foreign bodies directly from the field. Thanks to a vision system provided with NIR technology (Near InfraRed) and with the possibility to run analyses of the chlorophyll, it is possible to spot products bigger than 10 mm. Therefore, 95% of contaminants are discarded during the harvesting itself.

“Bellavista is not only the byword for quality, efficiency and safety. The machine stands out also because of a particular care for the comfort: the operator is comfortably seated and s/he is provided with a big touchscreen monitor in order to easily interact with all the features”.
