LEMA: "We're like your dream organic fruit shopping mall"

There is no doubt that the organic market is here to stay and, in fact, here to grow. A decade or so ago buying organic was a small alternative trend yet today with the widespread of organic products by the super market chains, organic is finally becoming what it always should have been. An everyday, conscious choice. Consumers are better informed than ever and are on the look out for the best way to spend their pennies, seeking often not just a certified organic product at an attractive price but the origin, the taste or the story behind it. As the market shifts so should the suppliers. Companies need to look ahead with a growing vision and fresh new proposals.

A few months ago LEMA was started. An all organic, all sustainable fruit distribution company that works a bit like your dream, organic fruit shopping mall. Under one roof buyers can find their high quality, organic, everyday fruit assortment but surprise - surprise under the same roof they can also find a range of less mainstream produce, that often takes big efforts to find but that it is totally worth the search. A bit like a high-end boutique, hence its name “The Lema Boutique”. The Lema Boutique offers seasonal rarities, exceptional tasting but less known produce and in general a new organic fruit proposal every month. From fresh goji berries and kiwi-berries to pomegranates and apricots.

As growers are turning organic or existing organic growers are expanding, they come up with new crops and ideas. We travel and meet these growers and see what they have to offer and if it is something special then we do all we can to support it.

A few weeks ago the kiwi season started and soon the Greek citrus season will start. The weather was very good and good quality citrus is expected until February, perhaps even March. The citrus assortment will include oranges and clementines but also blood oranges, grapefruits and older varieties of mandarins with exceptionally strong taste.
