The Italian Bagioni Alfiero machines are used in the harvesting of asparagus. They are now being converted into vehicles. This latest development will be presented at the International Asparagus Days.
It uses a device that is similar to those used in motor vehicles. This means the worker can keep the key in his pocket. This key is able to communicate with the machine. It uses passive electromagnetic waves. If the worker walks away, the machine stops automatically.
The Stop&Go principle
"This is an evolution of our Stop&Go patent. Every evolution has been designed to improve the machine. These developments also promote the use of the machine and ensure better safety of use. Many cars use this same principle", explains owner, Aurenzo Bagioni.
The Stop&Go system functions by means of an optical sensor. It registers whether the worker is within the safe, working area. This is essential, otherwise the machine stops working. European regulations stipulate that a machine must not be able to move without a driver. However, in some cases, machines with no control or stop systems are still being used.
