China: Apple market is polarized

This year's Apple price has put the Jingning Apple in the spotlight. This year, the price of Jingning's high-quality mountain red Fuji apple  exceeded 7 yuan, the highest price sold for 8 yuan a jin; the late mature red Fuji 70 starting price is already at 5 yuan. At the same time, the price of apples in some general producing areas has entered a downturn. The yield of apples is small and the price is high. Fruit farmers have switched to growing greenhouse vegetables or other cash crops.

Why is the Jingning Apple so expensive while apples from other production areas cannot be sold?
With the improvement of people's living standards and the increase of the total amount of fruit, the requirements for the quality of apple are getting higher and higher. They want the apples to be of good quality, sweet and sour, delicious, good-looking and safe to eat. The purchaser judges the price based on the quality of the apple. The superior fruit has a good price and is in short supply while the inferior fruit is difficult to sell. The apple industry is no longer just chasing higher production levels.

Although some fruit varieties in some areas are unsalable, overall, the fruit market in the first half of the year is basically in line with the situation from previous years. At the same time, the emphasis on high quality and good prices have become increasingly prominent. And, while some fruits are sold at a low price, the prices of fine varieties and high-quality fruits are relatively stable, and some high-end products are even in short supply. For example, the price of fine varieties such as "Golden Pineapple" has remained at a high level, and the quality of the seedless litchi in Hainan is very good, and the price is also very good.
