Accordance VAT unveils new operations in Amsterdam

Accordance VAT, the UK-based international VAT Compliance and Consultancy organisation, opens the doors of its new Amsterdam office this week.

Currently, half (50%) of the clients that Accordance services are based in the EU. Expansion into the continent comes after a result of a period of sustained growth for the tax consultancy, whose clients include multinational companies like leading catering and logistics firm Global Infusion Group, and global online retailer BooHoo.

Accordance also works with multinational clients with complex transactions across a range of industries, including food, chemical, immovable property services, and manufacturing. Its European expansion signals the intention to further develop its client base in these key sectors.

The fast-growing firm is also extending capacity in its UK headquarters. While setting up European operations was an existing part of Accordance’s growth strategy, the launch this week is also a response to the uncertainty generated by the UK’s impending departure from the EU. Alongside this, recent research carried out by the organisation found that the vast majority of clients (67%) believe that European operations would strengthen the organisation’s service offering post-Brexit.

Nick Hallam, CEO, said: “International VAT is a complex affair. Brexit only serves to deepen confusion around legislation and obligations, and is leaving many businesses unsure of how to plan and what to plan for. We want to deliver a shot of clarity in the midst of this chaos.

“With one foot in Amsterdam and the other in the UK, we’re perfectly placed to do this. We’ll continue helping our clients to trade confidently cross border and meet their compliance obligations in the most efficient way possible, while staying true to our European essence and international outlook.”

The thriving Dutch economy and the great attraction the Netherlands hold for investment and business growth make Amsterdam an ideal location for the organisation’s expansion.

Lucy Franklin, Sales Director, said: “We’re really excited to be growing our business in Amsterdam. This vibrant, multicultural city is the perfect fit for an organisation that is made up of Europeans and speaks more than 30 languages.“Our presence in Amsterdam will strengthen our position as global leaders in international VAT compliance and consultancy.”

The office is located in central Amsterdam, on the Keizersgracht canal. CEO Nick Hallam will oversee operations in Amsterdam, supported by a team of specialist consultants. There will be a close working relationship between the Brighton and Amsterdam offices, and Accordance will be looking to expand the EU team in the coming months.
