More than 21,000 are expected to attend Fresh Summit

The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) expect that this year's Fresh Summit, which will be held in Orlando, Florida, from October 18 to 20, have a record number of exhibitors, visitors, and type of leadership.

According to expectations, more than 21 thousand people will visit this year's version, 3,200 of which would be direct buyers. There will also be more than 1,200 exhibiting companies in an area of 30,000 m2.

Hundreds of Chileans from the fruit and vegetables sectors will be present at this event. "This great fair lets us know where the world's fruit and vegetable business is heading, in its most diverse aspects," said Andres Rodriguez, representative of PMA in Chile.

In addition, he said, the event was designed and structured so that participants connect with each other outside the official Fresh Summit events, facilitating contacts and business. "This year it's going to be easier for people to meet the people they want."

Innovative and diverse outlooks
The Fresh Summit agenda is growing and there have been some surprise announcements, for example, there will be an important speaker in each of the 4 Forums for the Future, who will talk about a topic of great interest.

Leslie Odom Jr., a renowned American actor and musician, winner of Grammy and Tony awards, and Kevin Coupe, a business and consumer expert, are expected to participate in one of the forums. They will conduct an original and provocative presentation in which they will explore business lessons and the keys to the creative spirit, with an emphasis on agricultural products.

Another surprise guest is Lindsey Vonn, who overcame adversity and became the most successful female alpine ski athlete in history, and who will be the keynote speaker at the Women's Fresh Perspectives on October 20. The Lindsey Vonn Foundation (LVF), is a nonprofit that empowers girls to grow as athletes and individuals, providing them with opportunities and experiences that increase their self-esteem and positive self-image. In 2016, People magazine included Lindsey Vonn on its 25 Women Who Change the World list.

In addition, Peyton Manning, a former professional American football player, will share his inspiring experience facing adversity, establishing links with our industry.

Cathy Burns, the CEO of PMA, will talk about the state of the fruit and vegetable industry, the collective intelligence in the sector, and about the predictions that will change the business.

In addition, Fresh Summit attendees can join the new Experience Extension, which was designed to generate conversations on critical issues, which can lead to finding solutions collaboratively. The topics to be discussed are:

-Safety in fruits and vegetables: controls;
-Floral transport: discussion of changes to be more efficient;
-Changes in global commerce: where is it going?;
-Transportation of fruits and vegetables: who is driving?;
- Stay: why would someone stay with you?;
-Blockchain.

"PMA's Fresh Summit has always been, and will continue to be, a place where people can find the best ideas, the most outstanding innovations and the widest selection of products available," stated Andres Rodriguez.
