San Miguel, a leading company in the production and export of citrus fruits from the southern hemisphere, strengthened its relationship with Jingdong Shengxian (JD.com), a well-known e-commerce company and one of the main retail sales platforms in China, to market fresh products through the JD.com e-commerce portal. The Chinese company announced in Hong Kong its new Strategic Global Fruit Alliance initiative, aimed at boosting the activity of the fruit and vegetable market in that country.
Apart from San Miguel, 18 internationally renowned fruit producers, such as Zespri and Wonderful, are participating in this cooperation agreement.
The signing of this alliance not only highlights San Miguel as one of the leading companies in the sector in the world, but also enables the development of the business through e-commerce. At the same time, the agreement allows to deepen the company's presence in one of the markets with the highest growth in the world.
In the framework of the presentation event, Wu Zhengzhi (the General Marketing Manager of Jingdong Mall Fresh Food Division), said: "Jingdong Fresh has been working to be deployed globally, from the origin of the products up to the consumers, so that they can have a better diet. We will help our partners to explore the Chinese market, focusing on a win-win concept."
"This alliance will allow us to be even closer to our customers. Thanks to e-commerce we hope to provide a better offer to the final consumer in China. Having JD's experience in this segment is a differential value when it comes to meeting the needs of a market of great relevance to us," said Andres Haloua, the Commercial Manager of San Miguel. "We are very proud to be a part of this initiative, as it validates the confidence that our customers have in our product's quality and reaffirms our leadership in the sector."
San Miguel bets on development and innovation, and continuously works to offer its customers high quality products, through more and better channels that respond to the needs of the market.
