Excellent gsp thanks to an increasing quantity and good prices

Mountain strawberries on full production

This will be a record year for Fragolà, the brand of the Ceradini Group. It produces mountain strawberries at 1.150 m above the sea level, on the mountains close to Verona. The technician Mattia Brutti explains that "The weather conditions, together with the safekeeping of the crop, have facilitated a very abundant flowering".

The technician continues, “Since August, the collected quantities have gradually increased as well as the quality. Thanks to the changes in temperature, the strawberries are tough, crispy and with a high sugar content. The plants are very healthy and I think we will keep collecting until the end of October, at least”.

Fragolà is characterised by its organoleptic quality together with the crunchiness of the pulp. This year, the botrytis has been checked without any problems and the percentage of waste is very low. The technicians took care especially of fighting the Drosophila, eventually managing to avoid its presence on the plants. They used bottles with baits which were replaced once or even twice per week.

Thanks to the high demand for quality Italian and consistent products, the prices have been good throughout the summer. The changes in temperature are allowing the concentration of sugars.

The owner Massimo Ceradini explains, “The varieties that we grow are Irma and Murano. These typologies proved to be suitable for the soilless production, especially regarding the organoleptic quality, the colour and the size. The product is sold in boxes of 2 kg. The package can be of any type. Our customers are wholesalers, Gdos and fruit boutiques.
