Greece: “Our kiwis are much bigger in size this year”

The kiwi season is taking off and after a fantastic season last year, Greece prepared to do even better this year. Tomas Moulias from Froot says the Greek kiwis of 2018 are even bigger than they were previous year, although the prices are lower.

Greek exporting company Froots had an amazing kiwi-season last year, but this year seems to be a little complicated, according to Thomas Moulias. "Last year Spain took in a huge volume of kiwis, but they seem reluctant to order the same amount this year. I think they’re trying to keep the prices low by not showing too much interest, Moulias says. Spain was actually our biggest market last year, so them not ordering as much as they did last year does hurt us a bit, but luckily we have more than enough other markets to export our kiwis to. Countries like India, Malaysia, Qatar, Dubai and many other nations from the East are still ordering regular volumes. Besides, our kiwis are much bigger in size this year, so we expect them to do really well."

To penetrate new unexplored markets, Froots will also make an appearance during Fruit Logistica in Madrid, taking place between the 23rd and 25th of October. “You can find us at the stand C03 No7 in Hall 10. People are always welcome to get a taste of the big Greek kiwis!”
