“Save R’ Citrus” is a citrus research partnership between the University of California, Riverside and the California Citrus Research Foundation that aims to protect California’s $2.2 billion citrus industry from Huanglongbing, also known as citrus greening disease.
The California Citrus Research Foundation will build a biosafety-level 3 plant facility in Riverside that will utilize UC Riverside’s expertise in citrus pests, diseases and breeding. This new research partnership will enable industry and academia to work together to protect California’s citrus industry. The facility will allow researchers to conduct work with plant pathogens that previously couldn’t be done in Southern California.
An invite only event will be hosted Monday 6 June at the University of California, Riverside to launch the partnership.
