Cuba: Mango harvest in the final stretch

The mango harvest in the province of Ciego de Avila will conclude this week after the processing of 10 thousand tons of pulp for concentrated juices, nectars, and other aseptic foods destined for national consumption and import substitution.

The collection campaign began in May with the Super Haden and Corazon varieties, which are the most beautiful and pulpy, of which there are 3,500 hectares in the province of Ciego de Avila and prospects to continue their development.

Their main productive pole lies in the southern zone, where there are also three other important productive projects: guava, pineapple and papaya, stated engineer Pedro Manuel Díaz, the sub-delegate of Agriculture.

The Base Business Unit of the Ceballos factory complex was modernized and expanded in the last three years through an investment of 15 million pesos, which gave this facility the operational capacity to process thousands of tons of mango from Ciego de Avila and six other provinces, in addition to other fruits and vegetables.
