"China: JD Logistics invests 1 billion to establish a "green fund"

On December 11th, JD Logistics organized the 2017 Beijing summit meeting for a new, global era of logistics. During this meeting the CEO of JD Logistics, Wang Zhenhui, stated that logistics have entered a new era with qualitative changes in consumption and industry, as well as a technological revolution. These changes show themselves in short supply-chains, intelligence, and symbiotic operations.

Green development is the leading principle behind JD Logistics, according to the summit presentation. JD Logistics persists in technological innovation, and continuously carries out exploration in reduction of carbon emission and energy consumption in packaging material, new energy installations, supply chain processes, and construction of infrastructure. In the next three years, JD Logistics plans to replace several hundred thousand cars with vehicles that run on new energy sources. Furthermore, through cooperation with partner companies JD Logistics will reduce the use of disposable paper boxes by 10 billion within three years.

JD Logistics has named this set of green logistical practices a "strategy for pure green logistics". JD Logistics announced the investment of 1 billion yuan [151 million USD] in the establishment of JD Logistics Green Fund. The fund will be utilized for the initiation and promotion of technological innovation for environmental protection in supply chains, innovative research and development, and a green consumer society.
