New York State Grown & Certified was launched by the state in 2016 by Governor Andrew Cuomo. It is designed to identify and promote premier growers who adhere to food safety and environmental sustainability programs as well as strengthen consumer confidence in New York-based food products. New York farmers can take advantage of the growing market demand for locally-grown produce while sharing awareness of the food safety requirements. “NY Grown & Certified growers grow to a higher standard than anywhere else in the country,” said Commissioner Ball in an interview with Spectrum News.
