Aweta adds internal quality sorting sensor to Midstar grader
Since the start up the Midstar grader was equipped with the Powervision3D external quality sorting sensor, which is the company's latest external defect sorting sensor.
Power Vision 3D detects fruit colour, shape and external defects. A highly sophisticated camera system combines images taken from different angles to create a full 3D image.
PowerVision 3D uses high definition digital cameras and LED technology to detect a given parameter of imperfection, eliminating the subjective opinion of human eye, which they see as a means of obtaining a more accurate and consistent grading standard.
The new Inscan sensor will allow you to sort the fruit by softness and internal decay without any manual operation. Introduced in the market over 10 years ago, the Aweta INSCAN sensor, with the aid of near infrared (NIR) light, determines the internal quality aspects of fruit and vegetables and is both fast and non-destructive.
As the light travels through the product, it provides the system with information about the internal quality. Sophisticated mathematical models analyse the light absorption at various wavelengths. The signals are analysed and translated into Brix or other quality values with a higher accuracy than the human tastebud is capable of.
Inscan is nowadays applied worldwide to detect internal quality in stonefruit, kiwi, apples, pears, avocado, citrus, mango and tomato.
