Katiana Valdes with Crystal Valley Foods

“Viva Fresh provided intimate opportunity to help us grow our Texas presence”

This year was the first time Crystal Valley Foods attended the Viva Fresh Expo that was held in Austin this past weekend. “We attended because the show came highly recommended by some of our customers and suppliers,” says Katiana Valdes with Crystal Valley Foods. “Although it has only been around for a few years, we had heard great things about it.”

Just the right size
A few days after the event, Valdes shared that the show met all expectations and more. “We plan on being part of it all again next year and hope to exhibit,” she mentioned. “It was a great venue to meet with all of our Texas customers and suppliers and since it was regional, it was just the right size to allow for quality conversations and connections. It was also interesting to see the exhibitors that were showcasing the unique, quality produce grown in the Southwestern US and Mexico.”

10% population growth
“Everything from the educational sessions and networking events to the trade show floor provided the perfect intimate opportunity to help us grow our Texas presence,” shared Valdes. “The Texas market is extremely important for us. In the past five years alone, the population of Texas grew 10 percent and with a larger population the state’s food industry will grow with it. We have many customers in both retail and foodservice already but as a thriving state, we want to continue to grow our market share and presence in Texas as well.,” she added.

Crystal Valley Foods is a grower and importer of produce from Central and South America with a focus on the distribution of asparagus. In addition, the company’s product line includes baby vegetables, berries, peppers, beans, peas and other specialty crops. Seasonally, it imports many of its products, including asparagus from Mexico.
