The Agricultural Cooperative Norandino opens its range of exports with a variety of products: not only cocoa, coffee and sugar cane, but also bananas.
The decision was taken recently during "a historic meeting where we agreed the start of banana exports. To begin with, we hope to export more than 200 containers per year. The main markets are Italy, France, USA, Holland and Germany, " said Santiago Paz, commercial manager at Norandino.
The bananas Norandino exports are grown in the provinces of Sullana and Morropón, where there are thousands of small producers who have not yet made exports as a strong organization, and now will benefit through the Norandino Cooperative.
A big and strong organization
Santiago Paz said that the Norandino Agricultural Cooperative will continue to grow due to good partners worldwide and a highly trained and efficient executive team.
He believes that in this globalized and competitive world a large and strong organization is needed that can be sustainable in the long term.
"We do not seek to compete with other organizations in the area. Our real competition is the major corporations that day by day take over the world. We have a very big challenge, as only 10 brands control everything we consume. Producer organizations, to survive and be competitive, and be an alternative for small producers, have to make economies of scale and seek partnerships", he stated.
