Spanish stonefruit on the spotlight at iFresh Fair China

Spanish stonefruit has been in the spotlight at the ninth edition of iFresh Fair China, in Shanghai (en.ifreshfair.cn), held between 14 and 16 November. The Murcian companies Agromarketing (www.agromarketing.es) and China In Crowd (www.chinaincrowd.com), which have had their own stands at the most important fruit and vegetable event in continental China, have been showcasing and promoting Spanish products and services, such as those offered by the Murcian Distinet (www.distinetmurcia.es).

The stand, decorated with pictures of trees in bloom in Cieza and of Spanish stonefruit products, has served to facilitate contacts and interviews with Chinese importers interested in Spanish agricultural products, especially peaches and plums, given the recent approval of the export protocol between Spain and China, which has allowed Spain to become the first country in the world to be able to ship these products to the Asian giant.

For municipalities like Cieza, AbarĂ¡n or Blanca, leaders in the production of peaches and plums, gaining new markets for their products in China would entail increases in the prices of their productions and a greater market diversification.

The companies Agromarketing and China In Crowd have been the exclusive representatives of Spain at this fair, which is recording a growth in the number of visitors and participants.

The fair has also served to promote the 2nd Stonefruit Congress, to be held in Murcia next March, which hopes to increase the number of participants and the quality of the speakers. The congress will continue focusing on the prospects and requirements for the export of peaches and plums to China.
