US pears selling well in China

A few days ago, the US Pear Association announced in Beijing that the new US pears are now being sold in Chinese cities such as Beijing. Since the US pears have come to China in 2013, the sales volumes have been rising year after year. Currently, China has already become the fifth largest importing market for US pears. According to the US Pear Association representative for China, Mr. Wu Yongliang, more than 360,000 cartons of 10 kg were exported to China in the 2014-2015 season. That is an increase of 13% compared to the year before that.

Mr. Wu Yongliang also stated that health is becoming increasingly more important for Chinese consumers. So the demands for US pears becomes higher. Because of that, it is estimated that in the coming 5 years, the export volumes of US pears towards China will reach a million cartons. If that happens, China will become the one of the three largest export markets for US pears.
