BR Fresh Exotics to start import of organic ginger from China

“Over the years we have put a lot of time and energy in setting up a reliable supply of conventional ginger from China. It means going to China regularly, working in the warehouses, and checking how the daily processes function in practice. We are not just talking about the quality and the size of the ginger roots, but also the working conditions and hygiene,” says Rob de Jong of BR Fresh Exotics.

“It is one thing to have a nice talk in the board room and have a great meal with the people of the office, but it is another to stand at the production line working with your own two hands. Everything that is said about the processes, we want to check in person. It is not because we do not trust our suppliers, but because it is the culture in China to tell people what they want to hear,” says Rob.

Last Monday, the first container of organic ginger roots arrived in the warehouse in Waddinxveen from China. “The print of their own design of the 13 kg box has turned out very well, the ginger quality was fine, and there was nothing found in the residue test. With an average root weight of more than 200 grams, we are satisfied about everything. In the beginning of December, we will be in China again to organise the conventional and organic season, and then this beautiful product can find its way to the European market from China.”
