AU: Maddie's Vision wants you to eat more tomatoes

What does the largest Australian grower and supplier of tomatoes and Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision have in common?

They have both been personally affected by blood disease and are fighting to make a difference. This November, Flavorite will support Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision through the sales of two of their tastiest tomato products.

During #MaddiesMonth, proceeds from Cherry Burst and Vine Ripened tomatoes sold at Coles, throughout Australia, will go towards funding research into Bone Marrow Failure - and they are hoping to raise $100,000!

Founder of Flavorite, Mark Millis, said that he was moved by Maddie’s story and her battle with Aplastic Anemia. The challenges of a blood disease are something Mark knows personally, having been diagnosed with a type of blood cancer in 2004. Inspired by the Riewoldt family’s actions to fight Blood Marrow Failure, Mark felt that his business could make a difference.

“We are really excited about supporting Maddie’s Vision in their efforts towards finding a cure,” Mark said.

“This year we will ask you to eat more tomatoes and next year, we might look at expanding into other fresh produce lines.”

Mark said that both Flavorite and Maddie’s Vision were dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of Australians.

“Flavorite are passionate about eating fresh Australian grown produce,” he said.

“Working with Maddie’s Vision, who is so passionately focused on medical research by fundraising through sport, health and fitness in Australian communities, is an excellent fit for Flavorite.”

Maddie’s mum, Fiona Riewoldt, said the family were very emotional when Flavorite approached them with the fundraising idea.

“To think that this partnership may support a research position for a whole year, and that the position may lead to a breakthrough, we are simply overjoyed,” she said.

To get involved in #MaddiesMonth, look for the Maddie’s Vison logo on Cherry Burst and Vine Ripened tomatoes from November 1. Tastings and in-store appearances by key AFL players will be happening in some states from mid-November. Follow @MaddiesVision on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep up to date.
