Spanish cultivation company La Huerta of Heemskerk to continue independently

Cultivation company La Huerta from Motril in south east Spain wants to continue their company activities independently. Cor Heemskerk of W. Heemskerk BV has been the owner of the Spanish company until now. He wants to mainly focus on the production company in Rijnsburg and make La Huerta a partner, as is the strategy with the other suppliers. La Huerta will pass into the hands of Maicel Kluijtmans, John Groen and Pater BV, purveyor of Heemskerk for over 25 years. The new owners have announced their ambition to continue to expand La Huerta as a reliable supplier for its buyers.

More suppliers
La Huerta, meaning vegetable garden in Spanish, was founded in 2004 and mainly grows, spinach, endives, cauliflower, celery, cabbage, beans and sweet potatoes. The company was founded by Cor Heemskerk with the approach of getting more grip and control over the entire chain. With the growth of Heemskerk and the necessity of spreading risks, Heemskerk also started up other programmes with other suppliers. This has lead to La Huerta also supplying a lot of products to other production companies and retailers. With the increasing autonomy of La Huerta, the company can better focus on growing vegetables for various sales areas. Heemskerk can focus even more on its own production company and challenging its supplier to define themselves in quality and freshness. A close collaboration will continue to exist between both companies. On the one hand in the customer/supplier relationship and on the other because part of the cultivation guidance of various suppliers of Heemskerk in Spain/Italy will continue to be done through La Huerta. At the moment all formalities are being settled. It is expected to be realized in the first quarter of 2016.
