"Spanish strawberries will find their way"

There are already some Spanish strawberries on the market. Some traders are still waiting due to the domestic supply, Others are choosing import. "Despite there still being some Belgian ones present, sales are good. There is always demand for strawberries before the holidays," says Dirk Heerman of Guido Fruit. "We have had them in the assortment since last week. It's still small volumes but they're finding their way. It's hard to say how the season will go. It's still early."

6 Euro per kilo
The prices for both the Belgian and Spanish strawberries are good. The price at the moment is 1.50 per 250 grams, so 6 Euro per kilo. We sell them under our brand Picabol, one of the better brands for Spanish strawberries. We try to supply the best brands."

Dirk Heerman looks back at 2015 with satisfaction. "It was one of our better years for Guido Fruit. We can't complain." It's not that busy at the moment. "The Christmas demand still has to come. We expect more sales as of tomorrow and next week for the holidays."
