Yantai waited 17 years for apple exports to US

First Yantai apple exports to US

The export of Yantai apples to America may look like ordinary trade, but Yantai waited seventeen years before exports to America could take ofs. Opening up the American market will provide a rare opportunity for the development of the Yantai apple export and it will improve the structure of the Chinese apple export market.

America is North America's largest fruit consumer market, it has one of the most strict quarantine inspections in the world. Since the start of commercial trade, the US refused Chinese apples to enter. In June this year, China and America reached a bilateral agreement, allowing Chinese apples to enter the US.

China is the largest apple producer of the world. Yantai is one of the largest apple cultivation areas in China. In 2014, Yantai had more than 18 hectares (270 mu) of apple orchards, with a total output of 410 million tons.
