Turkey: Increased demand for apricots

European traders noticed the stable price for Turkish apricots.

Turkish traders state that the demand has increased because the buyers are thinking about the winter. And furthermore the Turkish Lira is getting stronger compared to the US Dollar. At the moment all sizes are freely available. But buyers should keep in mind that there was no surplus leftover of last year and that this years’ yield didn’t exceed the amount of apricots sold the previous two years.

The prices are not as 'crazy' as last year. The demand for apricots for processing and the smaller sizes will increase first.

Should the demand continue to increase, an increase in the price levels can be expected early next year. At that time the exporters and farmers have already sold some of their produce, and feel safe enough to hold on the remaining stock and wait for higher prices.
