SCOOP Aldi conquers Aussie market

In Australia, where supermarket chains Coles and Woolworth have dominated the market for decades, a German outsider, in just a matter of years, has become one of the three largest market leaders.

After first opening a supermarket in 2001, Aldi now has over 350 stores and a turnover of nearly three billion Euro on the Australian continent. The limited, but high quality product range at affordable prices, makes the discounter a success in the country. Aldi products regularly top the Australian Canstar satisfaction ratings. Aldi is planning to open another 120 stores on the continent over the next years.
