Carrefour, the supermarket chain, has reached an agreement with the French Federation of Vegetable Producers, Légumes de France, by which the chain will only sell vegetables produced in France in its hypermarkets and supermarket stores in France during the country's production season.
The agreement aims at promoting the French production of vegetables, which has been negatively affected by the consequences of the Russian veto on food products from the European Union (EU) and the weather.
The commitment covers all of Carrefour's hypermarkets and supermarkets in France, a total of nearly 1,200 stores.
The agreement is effective since November 14 and will cover the horticultural products of spring and summer.
Carrefour has more than 4,500 stores in France, distributed in four formats: hypermarket, supermarket, convenience and cash & carry.
