Last week, berry company Driscoll’s handed over a cheque of 23,134 Euro to the Dutch charity Safegroup. This foundation offers women and children who are victims of domestic violence a safe place to go. Jan de Werd, Managing Director of the Safegroup: “We are very happy with this beautiful donation and will use the money to redecorate the garden of our Valkenhorst shelter.”
The berry company collected this spectacular amount by participating with a team of 115 people in the running event Singelloop in Breda. Driscoll’s sponsored every runner with 100 Euro, while business relations, family, friends and of course the Driscoll’s employees themselves were asked to donate for the Safegroup.
Theo Houwen, Senior Vice President/Managing Director of Driscoll’s of EMEA, is very proud of the result. “As a company we believe it is important to give something back to the community. By supporting local projects, such as the Safegroup, we can really contribute to the world around us.”
