Between January and August, citrus fruit exports towards the European Union reached 561,440 tons, far less than the previous three years.

In Argentina, the export season was influenced by the economy and by freezes. Lemon production reached 650,000 tons in 2014 and will increase to 1.15 million tons in 2015. Oranges recorded 600,000 tons (1 million in 2015), tangerines reached 260,000 tons (500,000 in 2015) and grapefruit recorded 60,000 tons (100,000 in 2015).

Citrus fruit represent 58% of South African fruit exports (i.e. 1.14 million tons). The season was affected by the Citrus Black Spot and by new parameters concerning residue levels. 14% less oranges reached the EU market - 420,000 tons in total. Shipments towards Asia increased (+44% Navel and +18% Valencia) and volumes sent to the Middle East are stable at 245,000 tons.
The situation of lemons is quite different. Volumes exported reached a record level of 200,000 tons (+22% towards all destinations and +29% towards Europe). Exports of tangerines also increased (+2% towards the EU). Grapefruit exports dropped by 20%.
