Ivory Coast mango producers ask for official price fixing structure

Banana producers are asking for an official structure to determine financial speculation in order to guarantee them a profit when the products are commercialised.

Mr Coulibaly, President of the advisory board for mango cooperative Gninnangnon explained the request to the Minister of Agriculture, Coulibaly Sangafowau. An official price, such as exists for cocoa, coffee and cashews would allow a uniformity in sales and purchases for producers, buyers and exporters.

The co-operative will benefit from a mango drying station and they aim to sell 1,000 tons of mangos. They have 287 employees and a share capital of 2,870,000 Fcfa.

Mr Coulibaly would also like access to creditors in financial institutions and banks facilitated as well the construction of drying and processing units.
