New Giumarra 'persimmon pack' features Mrs Krause's Hachiya recipes

Giumarra Reedley is pleased to announce that retired California stonefruit grower Mrs. Helen Krause is back in her kitchen this fall, this time with California Hachiya persimmons from Nature’s Partner.

Giumarra will offer its customers a new “Power Pack” consumer pack, shipping now through November. In the pack, Hachiya persimmons are packaged in a 4.5-lb. box, designed to stand alone and interlock for stacking at retail.

“Mrs. Krause is a crowd favourite and just in time for fall, is offering her time-tested Hachiya Oatmeal Cookie and Pudding Cake recipes, along with hints on ripening, freezing, and making Hachiya pulp,” says Jeannine Martin, director of sales for Giumarra Reedley. “We think her approachable personality and helpful hints will really help consumers discover new ways to use Hachiya persimmons.”

At “90-years-young,” Mrs. Krause was first introduced this spring by Giumarra through the Nature’s Partner “Easy as Pie” plum promotion. She is now offering new baking tips developed through her years of experience working with the exotic California crop for fall persimmons.

Recipes and “Hints from Helen” are printed in a handy 3-inch by 5-inch accordion-style set and are packed in each consumer box. This fall fruit is a good source of iron and a very good source of vitamin C. Once ripened, they make a nutritious, healthy snack for children and adults alike.

“I’ve been baking with persimmons for years, and there are tricks to working with Hachiyas in particular,” says Mrs. Krause. “One key is to know each piece of fruit ripens independently, and you must wait until each is fully ripened before using in recipes.”
