Cauliflower and broccoli remain popular in Germany

The vegetable classics in the German kitchen, cauliflower and broccoli, are still loved among the Germans, reports the German website Proplanta.de. In 2013 the Germans bought 1 kg of cauliflower and 490 grams of broccoli per person.

Broccoli was grown on around 2,200 hectares in the past year in Germany. The open ground harvest was 30,300 tonnes. An important state for broccoli cultivation is Lower Saxony, with a cultivation area of 810 hectares.

123,000 tonnes of cauliflower was grown on an area of 4,200 hectares in Germany in 2013.
